In 1993, Ilyse Rathet and Ron Post moved to Italy to teach English. Their love of travel and exploration of the Italian countryside led to a shared focus on discovering local foods and wines. They became involved with Slowfood Italy and the Gamero Rosso programs of indigenously based food and wine exploration while receiving Sommelier diplomas from the Associazione Italian Sommelier in Rome. After returning to the US in 1999, they began RITROVO, importing products like heirloom beans to the US market, receiving multiple awards and accolades for their exceptional quality products from Italian producers. By 2004 Ilyse and Ron received Master of Olive Oil Certifications from Slow Food Italy in Trevi, Umbria while expanding RITROVO’s product line. Today, each and every product is hand-selected by Ilyse and Ron, assuring the utmost quality and exceptional taste.
