Subarashii Kudamono Limited
Information
While traveling in Japan, American inventor Joel Spira received a gift of the Nashi pear and was enchanted by its incomparable flavor. Upon returning home to Pennsylvania, he endeavored to grow Asian Pears with his wife Ruth, a botanist. In 1984, with the guidance of experts from around the world, the Spiras began their own orchard in Pennsylvania's fertile Lehigh Valley. They developed and patented seven varieties of Asian Pear, each supremely juicy, crisp, and sweet. Subarashii Kudamono means "wonderful fruit" in Japanese; we continue to grow our fruit with traditional practices (each pear is hand picked at peak ripeness) to deliver that quality in every fruit. During the Fall Harvest we offer our Asian Pears to boutique retailers and top chefs as well as directly to consumers on our website. Year round we feature a delicious assortment of dried pears, spreads, and sauces.
