The National Center for Palms and Dates was established by Royal Decree No. (42649) dated 9/29/1432 AH to contribute to the development of the palm and date sector. The center works to inform all interested parties about its objectives and services, and to facilitate communication to promote the palm and date sector. The palm and date sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the most prominent sectors that contribute to diversifying sources of income and enhancing the gross domestic product, through developing non-oil revenues and stimulating the national export system in a way that achieves the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, especially with the doubling of the number of palms planted and producing hundreds of thousands of tons of dates annually. The palm tree was also chosen as a main component of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s emblem, while dates are considered the most prominent component of dishes in Saudi hospitality.
